I’ll be honest, I liked my Civics class and watching Mr. Smith Goes To Washington. In my mind at the time, it was an interesting and inspiring film. The movie filled me with hope and idealism about politics. Now, I want to invent a time machine to go back to slap my younger self upside the head.
As I write this, government officials have, in my opinion, failed the average American. That blame doesn’t fall on one party, no matter how they play it out in the corporate media. It seems to be less of a reach to the top and more of a scrambling not to be seen as the worst at the bottom.
At the end of the day, Democrats need Republicans and vice versa to continue their shameless, pathetic bailout of America’s rich and the powerful.
When I started in social media, I personally had no real interest in politics. But the last 4 years affected me in a way that will honestly haunt me for the rest of my days. Finding out corporate lobbyists get a bailout fills me with the same anger I felt when the banks were bailed out during the Great Recession.
I’m honestly spending most of my days disappointed and disillusioned with just all the people in power in America. When I see the American political system and the corporate media, I personally ask myself that often: Do their words write a check that their actions can’t cash? Can I trust them? Can I expect them to do something substantial about my suffering and the suffering of millions in this pandemic?
I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m sick of the rich and the powerful easily getting theirs while average folks are watched and forced to wait and suffer.

Excellent write up! That is precisely why I voted for Jill Stein in the last two presidential elections.
I hear you, brother! We’re the only developed country without a mass party of the working class, and it shows in our economic policies.
The USA is also a country with a very low voter-participation rate. Chicken or egg? Not sure.
F*ck the system!
