A Poem by Andrew James Sanchez
The Following is a poem about late diagnosis and learning to understand and love oneself even through the Hardship of meltdowns, shutdowns, and everything in between.
From a mighty lion to a meager shrew.
Would they notice the change if only they knew?
A once-full moon now shrouded by clouds.
If only they knew and remembered me now.
A blooming flame that never burns out,
Why care if they see me,
If they’re consumed by such doubt?
Would they notice the halo where my horns once grew?
If only they knew, if only they knew…
I am an Indigenous Blackfoot and Hispanic young Writer who favors free-verse poetry and Haiku, a photographer, and digital abstract artist.
I was diagnosed at age 5, then re-diagnosed relatively recently.
I struggled most of my life with things I didn't understand were associated with Autism and have dealt with common hardships that came with it.
Did my writing help or move you in some way ? Please buy me coffee sometime ! So that I can continue helping others through shared experiences.
